Good Karma is the story of Karma Bhotia and his wife Jyamu, their life’s journey from a small village in Nepal to Durango, CO and their commitment to raise the level of education in the Bhotkhola region of Nepal. In 2014 Karma led a 6-day trek to a village tucked against the Himalayas in northeastern Nepal, not long ago off limits to foreigners. For Karma it was an emotional return to his home village, which he had not seen for 25 years. For his 12 volunteers from his current home of Durango, Colorado, it was a magical and mystical journey to a land that can no longer hide from 21st century progress. The Bhotia foundation, created by Karma and his wife, Jyamu, is providing educational and other opportunities to the people of the Bhotkhola region, and this trip was the beginning of that effort. “Good Karma” tells the story of the group’s heart-warming mission. It is being released just as a devastating earthquake has rocked Nepal, one of the world’s friendliest – and poorest – countries.
